A banner for each of the six people killed, and a seventh banner reminding us never to forget the tragic event of Jan. 29, 2017 were displayed at the commemoration ceremony at Université Laval.

Two years ago, Quebec City was hit with the shocking news of a shooting at the Grande Mosquée of the Centre culturel islamique de Québec (CCIQ) at the corner of Chemin Sainte-Foy and Route de l’Église. A lone gunman opened fire during evening prayers and killed six men: Ibrahima Barry, Mamadou Tanou Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Aboubaker Thabti, Abdelkrim Hassane and Azzedine Soufiane.
