This giant bound volume of La Presse is open at a page of cartoonist Albéric Bourgeois’ Père Ladébauche Santa Claus comic strip published on Dec. 15, 1906.

Since the 19th century, satire and cartoons have complemented the pages of newspapers and magazines all over the world, and Quebec is no exception. The Musée de la Civilisation’s latest exhibit, Comics: Highlights of the “Ninth Art” in Quebec, displays the rich, yet little known, history of this art form in the province.
