Sara Montpetit, a high school student from Montreal, has skipped class since mid-February for the benefit of the environment. On Earth Day, she encouraged Quebecers – Montrealers and people from elsewhere in the province – to join her in the march in the Old City and most importantly in front of the National Assembly, where she gave a speech.

On April 22, the sun was out, the day was mild, and Mother Nature was smiling on Quebec City.

Peaceful, joyful demonstrators from all across the province arrived at the Parc de la Francophonie for an afternoon of speeches and marching through the Old City. They ended the day by forming a human chain around the Parliament Building.
